Zanzibar — Spice Island Escapes

Over 30 white-sand beaches, turquoise Indian Ocean water and the timeless heritage of Stone Town — the perfect close to a Lulu safari.

The Archipelago

A paradise off the East African coast

Zanzibar — also called the Spice Island or Sultan Island — is an archipelago on the East African coast belonging to Tanzania. Its shores hold more than thirty shining beaches of powder-white sand and deep blue water, and cities like Stone Town that feel like stepping into an old adventure film.

The largest islands are Unguja (commonly called Zanzibar itself) and Pemba, joined by dozens of smaller islets and the wildly beautiful Mafia Island further south. Unguja sits in the Indian Ocean around 40 km east of Bagamoyo — a gently hilly island roughly 85 km long and 20–30 km wide.
