We had an incredible safari, and our guide Frank made it truly special! He was an excellent driver, navigating the rough terrain with ease and always taking us to the best spots to see wildlife up close.

He also had a great eye for finding the perfect angles, making our experience even more exciting. On top of that, he used a professional camera to take amazing photos for us, which we’ll cherish forever.

I and my husband had a great experience with Frank our guide at Arusha game park. We had a great time see the wildlife some I had not seen like the warthog it was great.

My husband and I went on safari from the end of February to mid-March 2025. To say our experience was life-changing is an understatement, and we owe it ALL to our guide, Frank.

As you will find out, there are many tour companies to choose from and they often have similar itineraries. What will set your experience apart from everyone else’s, however, is your guide – and Frank is simply the best. Not only is he knowledgeable about the animals themselves, but he knows their migration patterns, their environmental preferences, and the nuances of their everyday lives for each season. Because of this, we had numerous up-close encounters where it was just us and the animals … and let me tell you, that is a RARITY. For example, typically when there was an unusual sighting, a call would go out to the nearby guides, and within minutes there would be a number of Land Cruisers, circled around, competing for viewing space. Not with Frank! Instead, he was the guide locating the animals without assistance, and often the one to place the call to others.

Frank was also incredibly attentive and flexible. He recommended starting and ending times that fit with our preferences. He was early to pick us up and would pivot to return later if we wanted to see another part of the park. He had a diverse itinerary and prioritized the animals we wanted to see (even if it meant stopping for the 100th time so I could see another Pumba … a.k.a. the underrated animal of the savanna, haha). He even accounted for the little details like re-parking to ensure we had the best photo opportunities, choosing different sites to avoid crowds, and knowing almost intuitively when we wanted to stay a little longer with a certain animal. I can tell you, not every guide did this for their guests.

Frank was also very personable, which you will learn is very important. On safari, people usually have one driver for the entire time. Frank spoke very good English, was funny, and was friendly. This made the hours we spent together every day easy and enjoyable.

Aside from the standard safari experience, below are a few other moments that show who Frank is as a person, a friend, and the best guide there is:

– He bought some of the local tribes bags of specific maize/corn flour, knowing they would have to travel a far distance to get anything similar. They were incredibly thankful.

– He got us a bottle of champagne so we could celebrate our last day on safari and found us a secluded place with an elephant herd to enjoy it (it was magical).

– One of the parts in our Land Cruiser loosened a bit due to the roads (it was nothing critical to our journey). We found out Frank drove three hours that night to ensure he had the proper part to fix it, if it loosened further. He got a hotel in that town and drove back that morning to ensure we could leave by 6 a.m. We were shocked. He told us it was worth it to ensure we had a seamless trip.

– He sent us the photos he took from his camera while on safari. Mind you, Frank is a photographer and sells his photos for profit. He wouldn’t let us pay him for any of them.

– I lost a stone from one of my rings near our lodge. I didn’t notice until we left for a different park. We later found out Frank had called the lodge, the parent company of the lodge, and the other guides to continuously check in to see if they found it, and considered even going back to check himself. When we told him he didn’t need to worry about it because things happen, he still went out of his way to take us back to the shop for a replacement.

– After we returned home, he followed up with us to make sure we had a safe journey.

I have tried to write this review many times, but struggled to find a way to detail the highlights of our trip, while also capturing the gravity that Frank brought to our experience. We were simply blown away by the safari but also by Frank.

This review does not do our experience justice. However, in short, anyone would be lucky to have Frank as their guide and Lulu African Safaris as their tour company.

Our expectations were high when we first met Frank, our guide, knowing we’d be spending twelve days together. By the trip’s end, saying goodbye felt like parting with a dear friend (and we think it was just that!). Frank’s guidance transformed our safari into a truly life-altering experience. His extensive experience was immediately apparent in his deep understanding of the Serengeti and the other parks. He possessed an uncanny ability to navigate us directly to the incredible wildlife we had hoped to see. We were so happy to have seen so many different animals, from black rhinos and vast zebra herds to enormous elephants, lion families, and even the surprisingly delightful warthogs! He was even able to arrange for us to see some wild dogs.

Frank’s expertise went far beyond simply identifying animals. He shared a wealth of fascinating knowledge about the ecosystems, local customs, and the critical importance of conservation, which made the trip that much better.

What truly elevated our experience was Frank’s genuine warmth and care, both for us and the different communities we passed through. He thoughtfully personalized our itinerary to match our interests, surprised us with champagne to celebrate our anniversary, and consistently sought opportunities to support local communities. His patience was remarkable as he answered our constant stream of questions and even taught us some Swahili during our drives. It was evident that he holds a deep respect for the animals and the people of Tanzania. We were particularly moved by his dedication to responsible tourism and his efforts to give back, which truly reflected his exceptional character. He consistently made us feel welcome and valued.

He ensured we had the most incredible experience imaginable, and we departed with cherished memories and a deep appreciation for the stunning beauty of Tanzania’s parks. We are a group of photo amateurs, came to Tanzania in 2023 with Lulu African Safari. The experience guide which himself is a photographer, able to search numerous wildlife, bringing the best timing/ location /light for shooting the great migration, animal hunting & beautiful scenery.

The arrangement of accommodation, food, transportation are also excellent. In view of this good experience, more friends will join us this year in 2025 with Lulu African Safari. Looking forward to this year’s vacation.

We hebben net een vakantie van 3 weken achter de rug in Tanzania. Een geweldige tijd en ervaring , na reeds vele andere landen over heel de wereld te bezoeken komt deze toch op mijn nummer 1 van reizen te staan. De pracht van de natuur , de schoonheid maar ook wreedheid van het overleven in een omgeving die constant in strijd is tussen prooidier en roofdier. We bedanken hierbij Frank voor ons 9 dagen mee te nemen naar de mooiste parken , waarvan Ndutu tijdens het kalverseizoen voor altijd in ons geheugen gegrifd staat. De enorme kuddu’s wildebeesten (gnoe’;s) die voorbij ons stroomden als een kolkende rivier , het 3 weken oude kalfje dat daar cheetha’s voor onze neus was aangevallen , en 3 uur later de bevalling meemaken van een gnoe. Een groep leeuwen in lake manyara die achter bavianen zaten in de boom. Slapende leeuwin die mooi lat te poseren in de accacia boom. De tented camps waar je de leeuwen en hyena’s snachts aan je tent kan horen brullen.. de verhalen zijn eindeloos . Frank wist de beste plekjes , kent alle gebieden , wist ons over ieder dier iets te vertellen en kon ons de beste foto’s bezorgen van onze trip ! We raden dus zowel hem als een trip van 3 weken aan in dit wondermooie land waar iedereen vriendelijk is , aangenaam weertje , een beeldschone ongerepte natuur te vinden is.

Het was een prachtige reis in Tanzania, eentje om nooit meer te vergeten. We hebben 9 dagen Safari gedaan met onze geweldige gids en chauffeur Frank. Hij liet ons de mooiste plekjes zien in de verschillende nationale parken zoals Arusha, Tarangiri, lake manyara, ndutu, serengethi en ngorogo. Voor foto’s en filmpjes probeerde hij zich steeds zo goed mogelijk te positioneren voor de mooste beelden. Cheeta’s die een klein wildebeest aanvielen tot de geboorte van een nieuw klein wildebeest. Niets was hem te veel extra shops die we konden bezoeken een extra taxi voor achteraf hij regelde alles. Hij trekr zelf ook zeer mooie foto’s die hij met veel plezier met ons heeft gedeeld. Een mooie reis, leuk gezelschap, ervaringen die we nooit zullen vergeten.
