Questions
Frequently asked
When is the Great Migration?
Year-round. Nov–Dec the herds arrive on the short-grass plains around Ndutu; Jan–Mar is the calving season; April sees them push north; May–Jun they move through the Western Corridor and Moru Kopjes; Jul–Oct the famous Mara River crossings in the north.
When are the river crossings?
Late July through October, at the Mara and Grumeti Rivers in the northern Serengeti. This is peak season — book 9–12 months ahead.
Is calving season a good time?
It's our favourite. February and early March on the Ndutu plains — thousands of calves born every day, and predator action at its most intense.
